Nu e ruptură mai mare ca
a copacilor noaptea.
În însingurarea lor se
tânguiesc de moarte,
se-mbrățișează cu
frunzele-n noroi
și-apoi își continuă
tacit, dansul.
Mereu m-au urmărit cu
stoicismul lor:
niciodată nu și-au
strigat durerea
mai mult decât un
greiere, toamna.
Niciodată n-au schimbat
trecutul,
prezentul, viitorul.
Întotdeauna au născut
din ei gânduri,
năruite-n frunze.
Oricât i-ar fi scrijelit
cuțitul, păstrează-n
scoarță dragostea
eternă,
ce-i drept, ca pe un
tatuaj prost făcut.
Cu toate acestea, mereu mă
primesc c-un dor atavic:
de parcă trupul meu
descinde dintr-al lor.
Nu m-ar mira, vă zic, ca
într-o noapte,
să-mi înfig tălpile-n
pământul rece,
să m-acopăr în griuri,
iar părul...
să-mi plângă în frunze
și-n versuri.
From cover
to cover
There is no bigger rift than the trees by night.
Alone, they lament their
solitude to death,
embracing the soil with
their leaves
and then continue their
quiet dance.
They
always followed me with their stoicism:
They
have never cried their pain out
more
than a cricket in autumn.
They've
never changed the past,
the
present, the future.
They
gave birth to thoughts, shattered in leaves.
No
matter how carved they'd be by knife,
they'd
keep in bark, eternal love,
of
course, like a poorly done tattoo.
However
I always get atavistic longings:
as if
my body descended from theirs.
I would
not be surprised, I say, if one
night,
I may
stick my feet in the cold ground
and
cover myself in grays, and my hair...
would
start crying in leaves and words.
